Ogborn was a member of the 140th Infantry, Missouri National Guard. 1 Feb 1945; Charleston ENTERPRISE LOCAL YOUTH REPORTED DEAD Mrs. Susie Ogborn, 606 Cleveland St., Charleston, was notified last weekend that her son, Sgt. Raphael F. Ogborn, was killed in action on January 9th, in France. Sgt. Ogborn was 25 years old. He was a member of the 140th Infantry, Missouri National Guard and went to Camp Robinson with the local company shortly after war was declared. He had been overseas since last May. His wife, Mrs Ruth Ogborn, is living at Alexander City, Alabama. He has three brothers in the U.S. Army. Melton is in a hospital in England at present, having been wounded in Germany on December 17 and later removed to a hospital in England. His brother, Hugh Ogborn, is with the U.S. Army in Italy, and Francis Ermil is with the U.S. forces in the Hawaiian Islands. One sister, Mrs. Gene Morris, lives with her mother here in Charleston.
