TANDY MURPHY DIES IN HOSPITAL

Tandy B. Murphy, 72, a resident of Wyatt, died Monday morning at the Delta Hospital in Sikeston after an illness lasting one week. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the McMikle Chapel in Charleston, with the Rev. L.R. Bowles officiating.
Burial was in the IOOF Cemetery.
Mr. Murphy was born Mar. 7, 1896, in Wickliffe, Ky., son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Willis E. Murphy. He had lived in Mississippi County since 1905, and was a retired farmer. He was a World War I veteran.
On June 1, 1925, he was married to Marie Vowels, who survives.
Other survivors are five sons, Charles, Waukegan, Ill, Paul, stationed with the Army in Germany, Frank and James Orville, Freeport, Tex., and William, Rockford, Ill; two daughters, Mrs. Ulyes Brumley, Wyatt, and Mrs. Al Cope, Charleston; a brother, Willis E. Murphy, Wichita, Kans; two sisters, Mrs. Liza Frans, Douglas, Kans., and Mrs. Arthur Parr, Bertrand; and 12 grandchildren.
He was buried in IOOF Cemetery, Charleston, Mississippi Co., MO.

Tandy Burton MURPHY and Gertrude Marie VOWELS were married on 1 Jun 1925. Gertrude Marie VOWELS (daughter of Living and Living) was born on 10 May 1905. She died on 23 Nov 1992 in Cape Girardeau, Cape Girardeau Co., MO.²¹ She was buried on 25 Nov 1992 in Charleston, Mississippi Co., MO - IOOF Cemetery. She was an an employee of the Brown Shoe Company until retirement in 1958. Tandy Burton MURPHY and Gertrude Marie VOWELS had the following children:
